Charles J. Schaeffer

Schaeffer, Charles J. Age 93 of Farmington, formerly of Mpls. Born January 12, 1917 in New York City, New York. Was placed in New York Foundling Home, September of 1918. Was then placed in St. Agnes Home for Boys in Sparkill, New York. He was raised by the Dominican Sisters there, until he was 18 years old.

He was inducted in the U.S.A.F. July 30, 1942, where he met his wife Dolores Stiehm, who was a WAC at the time, in the Army Air Corp also.

They were married December 30, 1944 while serving together in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After his discharge from service he settled with his wife in Minneapolis Minnesota. He worked as a Minneapolis city employee until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores Schaeffer, brother, Edward Schaeffer; grandson, Joseph Sullivan. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Sullivan (Dennis), Barb Clements (Dave), Dodie Ledeen (Chuck); 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; also by in-laws, Jack & Nell Stiehm.


Mass of Christian Burial:

11 AM Wednesday, Sept. 1st at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Farmington, MN. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
